'Bayside Playgroup Updates' is a FREE Premium Email Service to inform you of news, events, changes, and resources at Bayside Playgroup in Manly West. We keep you up to speed about additional resources -- mostly available online -- that you can use to extend the learning and exploration projects of the children in your  care.

Bayside Playgroup weekly programs are based on our attentive observation of each child's unique interests and emerging aptitudes in playgroup -- their 'play stories.'

By providing you with continuous updates about the rationale and resources for our children's Bayside Playgroup experiences, we aim to support your own quality of care for each individual child.

'National Aboriginal and Islander Children’s Day'

Message from Michelle   Play Session Program

The 2010 theme, 'Value My Culture, Value Me' is about the need for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to know they are loved and valued, and to have every opportunity to nurture and explore a healthy and strong sense of self and community.

'Value My Culture, Value Me' is also about promoting new attitudes and forging a new pathway of understanding for the benefit of all Australians. Building and improving relationships based on mutual respect, ending disadvantage for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families creates equality for all in the broader Australian community.

   Matariki - Maori New Year
Once a year, twinkling in the winter sky just before dawn, Matariki (the Pleiades) signals the Māori New Year. Traditionally, it was a time for remembering the dead, and celebrating new life. In the 21st century, observing Matariki has become popular again. Heaven-bound kites, hot-air balloons and fireworks help mark the occasion.
