Bayside Family Day Care Staff Profile: Clare McGaw

Clare McGaw joined Bayside Family Day Care in June 2006 after working the previous four years as an Account Coordinator for Ajinomoto Pharmaceuticals Europe Ltd in London, UK.

At Bayside Family Day Care, her responsibilities include early years educator business and administration training and support; payroll and time-sheet management; and administrative updates of our educator registry. Clare has also proved to be an invaluable team member in supporting the delivery of regular monthly training sessions, as well as special events such as the annual Children's Christmas Party.

Her previous responsibilities at Ajinomoto Pharmaceuticals Europe Ltd included Administrative Support to the General Manager on corporation and personal taxation issues, banking account and budget management, reconciliation, VAT, invoice payments, and monthly account reports.

From 1998-2002, Clare worked for Education Queensland as an Assistant Client Services Officer in the SAP Support Unit, where she handled payroll and salary reports, cash management reports, SAP database system access, and GST implementation.

A 1988 graduate of Wynnum State High School, in 1990 Clare obtained a TAFE Certificate in Office and Commercial Studies, and subsequently completed additional training in WordPerfect and Desktop Publishing, Microsoft Software Applications, SAP Business Support, and the Queensland Treasury Financial Management Framework.

During the 1990s, Clare progressed through a number of increasingly responsible administrative positions with Education Queensland, including Executive Secretary to the Director of Finance, and Project Support Officer to the SAP/MARS Team.

Clare says:

'This position offers me a wide variety of interesting involvements each day, and I have gained a treasury of useful knowledge of the Family Day Care and Child Care industry to help our clients.'

Clare's background in financial administration serves Bayside Family Day Care very well, especially in the new operational business climate that family day care schemes began to face as a result of structural changes introduced by the 2006 federal budget.
