Bayside Family Day Care Coordinator, Jane

Jane Louise Younger joined Bayside Family Day Care in November 2008, job-sharing with Team Leader Adele Moon, and became available full-time beginning January 2009.

Prior to her recent relocation to Australia, Jane worked in the UK as a Nursery Teacher ('Kindie') and as a Reception Teacher ('Prep') from January 2004 to August 2008 at the Buckland Infant & Nursery School [now Castle Hill Primary School].

From 2000 to 2004 she worked teaching Prep at Coppice Primary School, where she was Classroom Teacher in a two form entry school responsible for 30 children.

In both settings, she managed classroom aids and worked as part of the foundation stage team. She was also responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating the early years curriculum and assessing the children.

Her duties also included management, evaluation and assessment of the school's personal, social, emotional and health education programme, including training for teachers and parental workshops.

Jane holds a B.A. (Hons) in Educational Psychology, and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education.

In the period of her professional formation, Jane was exposed to a great many children with special educational needs and discovered a great passion and ability for teaching them.

Her most recent position was in a school with a speech and language unit -- enabling her to develop her skills in working with children with a wide variety of speech and language difficulties, as well as autistic spectrum and behavioural problems.

Jane says:

'As a mother myself, I now feel even more strongly that the foundations for learning are laid in early childhood, and are crucial to developing well rounded individuals.

I hope that my professional skill set, together with my own developing skills as a parent, will enable me to understand even more deeply the process of early childhood learning and development.

I look forward to meeting, supporting, and helping both carers and families of children in the Bayside community to realise their own best possibilities ...'
